Two Marines Moving — Corporate History

One of the most common concerns people have when hiring movers is simple and understandable:

"How is this actually priced, and what am I really paying for?"

The moving industry does not always do a great job explaining this clearly. Too often, pricing is vague, incomplete, or explained after the move instead of before it.

At Two Marines Moving, we have taken a different approach for a long time.

Since 2008, we have explained our pricing structure to clients before move day using the same simple framework:

Price. Process. Procedure.

Price answers what you are paying for.

Process explains how the move works.

Procedure explains what happens next.

When clients understand all three, trust increases, stress decreases, and surprises become far less common.

For many years, we have sent clients a short explainer video along with their estimate so they could understand exactly how pricing works before making a decision. That video is called Price. Process. Procedure. Below is the written explanation of that philosophy, followed by the original video itself.

The Three Parts of a Professional Move

A professional moving service is not a single flat number. It is made up of several distinct components, each designed to create fair, transparent, and predictable pricing.

1. Truck & Equipment

This charge covers the physical assets and professional tools required to perform your move safely and efficiently.

That includes:

  • The moving truck
  • Furniture pads and protection
  • Dollies, carts, straps, and specialty equipment
  • Tools for basic disassembly and reassembly
  • The readiness of a fully equipped professional crew

Rather than hiding these costs inside an inflated hourly rate, we separate them so clients can clearly understand what they are paying for. Transparency begins with visibility.

2. Zone-Based Fuel & Destination Charge

Moves involve distance. Our trucks travel from our facility to your origin location, from your origin to your destination, and then back again. Fuel, travel time, and vehicle wear all vary depending on geography.

Instead of using vague fuel surcharges or burying distance-related costs elsewhere, we utilize a Zone-Based Fuel & Destination Charge. This provides a more consistent and transparent method of accounting for travel.

The goal is simple: distance should be accounted for honestly, not hidden.

3. Hourly Labor

Hourly labor covers the time our professional movers spend executing your move.

The labor clock:

  • Starts when the crew arrives at your location
  • Stops when the last item is placed where you want it

We charge for actual time worked, subject to any applicable minimums, and we do not round up simply to create additional billable time. This structure ensures:

  • Clients pay for real work performed
  • Crews are incentivized to work efficiently and professionally
  • Everyone understands how time is measured before the move begins

Why We Explain Pricing This Way

This pricing structure was not created recently. It was not created as a marketing gimmick.

In 2011, we recorded a short public video entitled Price. Process. Procedure. The purpose was simple: to explain our pricing clearly and visually before move day.

For years, we have shared that video alongside estimates so clients could review it at their own pace and feel confident about how everything worked.

While some terminology has evolved over time, and while the company has grown significantly, the underlying philosophy remains the same.

Clear pricing builds trust.

Clear process reduces stress.

Clear procedure prevents surprises.

Below is the original video that has been part of our sales and client education process since 2011.

The video does not list specific prices. Instead, it explains how pricing is structured and why it is structured that way.

You may notice that some language reflects the time in which the video was recorded. That is intentional. We have chosen not to rewrite history. What matters is that the underlying principles explained in that video remain the foundation of how we communicate pricing today.

What This Means for You as a Client

When you receive an estimate from Two Marines Moving:

  • You understand how pricing works before move day
  • You can review the explanation at your own pace
  • You are not asked to "just trust us" without information
  • You work with a company that values clarity over confusion

Moving is stressful enough. Pricing should not add to that stress.

If you ever have questions about your estimate or how a charge is calculated, we encourage you to ask. An informed client is a confident client. And that is how we prefer to operate.

Price. Process. Procedure.

Price. What you are paying for.

Process. How the move works.

Procedure. What happens next.

Simple. Transparent. Professional.

That is how Two Marines Moving has explained moving for years, and it is how we continue to operate today.

Mission First. Team Always.
