Two Marines Moving — Corporate History
Trust matters. That is especially true when you are inviting a company into your home, trusting them with everything you own, and expecting professionalism under pressure.
That is one reason independent recognition matters.
Over the years, Two Marines Moving has been featured by national media organizations, business publications, and industry observers documenting different stages of the company's evolution.
One of those recognitions came from Lifetime Channel's Military Makeover — a nationally televised program dedicated to highlighting organizations, businesses, and individuals making a meaningful impact in the lives of military service members, veterans, and their families.
The segment was narrated by Montel Williams — himself a veteran — and focused on the story behind Two Marines Moving, the company's culture, and its commitment to creating opportunities for veterans.

Why Military Makeover Chose Two Marines Moving
The Military Makeover story was not about moving equipment. It was not about furniture. And it was not about business growth.
It was about people.
The segment examined how military leadership principles translated into civilian business and how a veteran-founded company continued serving veterans long after military service ended. At its core, the story focused on service, leadership, opportunity, and purpose.
A Foundation Built on Service
The Military Makeover feature traced founder Nicholas Baucom's journey from military service into entrepreneurship. Growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, Baucom was influenced by a family history of military service — including a grandfather who served during World War II and was present during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Baucom chose to join the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps became a proving ground for leadership, responsibility, discipline, and service.
Many of the lessons learned there would later influence the operating philosophy behind Two Marines Moving. The full story is available on the About page.
From Marine Corps Service to Civilian Enterprise
Following military service — including deployment to Iraq as an infantryman — Baucom entered civilian life carrying many of the same values that had shaped his military experience. Rather than leaving those lessons behind, he sought to bring them into business.
On November 10, 2008 — the birthday of the United States Marine Corps — Two Marines Moving was founded.
The objective was straightforward:
- Build a professional moving company.
- Employ veterans.
- Maintain high standards.
- Serve clients exceptionally well.
Over time, that mission evolved into something larger than a moving company. It became a place where veterans could continue developing professionally while serving clients and communities throughout the region.
A Company Built Around People
One of the strongest themes throughout the Military Makeover segment is that Two Marines Moving is ultimately a people business. The feature highlighted the company's commitment to hiring military veterans from multiple backgrounds, including:
- Marine Corps
- Army
- National Guard
- Reserve Components
- Active-duty service members working part-time
- Veterans pursuing higher education through the GI Bill
Veterans are not recruited as a marketing strategy. They are recruited because they often arrive with experience operating within teams, accepting responsibility, maintaining standards, and contributing to mission accomplishment.
The segment emphasized that people remain the company's most important asset.
Developing Future Leaders
Military Makeover also highlighted a lesser-known aspect of the business: leadership development.
The company focuses not only on moving services but also on professional development. Team members are encouraged to learn additional responsibilities, develop leadership skills, and pursue advancement opportunities.
The objective is not simply to fill positions. The objective is to build people.
That philosophy contributes to stronger teams, stronger leaders, and stronger client outcomes.
Why This Matters to Clients
The segment repeatedly reinforced a simple idea: trust is earned.
Clients experience that trust through:
- Professional conduct
- Reliable execution
- Clear communication
- Respect for property
- Consistent standards
- Accountability
The feature noted that much of the company's business comes through referrals and repeat clients. That type of trust cannot be manufactured through advertising alone. It must be earned through performance.
One client at a time. One move at a time.
More Than a Television Segment
Television features come and go. What matters is what remains after the cameras leave.
The Military Makeover segment captured a company culture centered on:
- Service
- Leadership
- Accountability
- Opportunity
- Professionalism
- Veteran employment
Those principles existed before the segment aired. They continue to influence the company today.
Why We Preserve This Feature
Historical records matter. They preserve context. They preserve milestones. They preserve perspective.
The Military Makeover feature provides an independent snapshot of how a nationally recognized television program viewed Two Marines Moving at that moment in the company's history. It documented the company's culture, values, and mission through the perspective of an outside organization.
