Two Marines Moving was founded on November 10th, 2008, by United States Marine Nicholas Edmond Baucom, on the United States Marine Corps’ birthday.
On that same day, Baucom registered the Two Marines Moving domain and built the original website himself. It was not his first website creation. It was simply the first deployment of what would become a long‑running operational mission.
Shortly thereafter, the company completed its first move.
The First Mission
It was a cold, snowy November day.
The job was simple by today’s standards: a load‑up of a client‑rented 17‑foot U‑Haul truck. No fleet. No brand recognition. No systems. Just execution.
Baucom employed a fellow United States Marine, whom he had hired the day prior. At that moment, Baucom was not only the founder—he was also the first Team Leader at Two Marines Moving.
It was a couple of Marines for a couple of hours.
That was the beginning.
From Two Marines to Thousands of Veterans
Since that first snowy move, Two Marines Moving has grown into a nationally recognized operation grounded in discipline, accountability, and measurable excellence.
Over the past 17 years and counting, the company has:
- Employed several hundred United States Marines
- Employed well over a thousand military veterans, and counting
- Completed tens of thousands of moving missions across the DMV and the United States
Growth was never accidental. It followed doctrine. Standards were set early, enforced consistently, and protected even when doing so came at short‑term cost.
Leadership from the Front
From day one, Two Marines Moving was built on leadership from the front.
The founder served as the first Team Leader. The standards expected of others were first imposed on himself. That leadership philosophy remains embedded in the company’s operating doctrine today, shaping how Team Leaders are trained, evaluated, and held accountable across the organization.
The company did not grow because it compromised.
